Welcome to my life in Israel
In June of 2001, I was invited by the Universal House of
Justice, the Administrative Head of the Baha'i
Faith, to serve for 18
months in the Northern Gardens Department. This is an amazing honour and
bounty for me, and an experience that I would like to document and share.
I've borrowed the idea of documenting it online from David,
who is also serving here.
Shrine of the Bab at dusk.
Where is here? Well, I am living in the city of Haifa, in
Israel, about 5 minutes' walk from the Shrine of the Bab and the Terraces, and
directly adjacent to the International Teaching Centre Building on the Arc on
Mount Carmel (the other buildings are the Seat of the Universal House of Justice
,the Centre for the Study of the Texts, and the Archives Building).
Every time I look out the window I am reminded yet again of the blessings I have
received by coming here. I serve at the greenhouse adjacent to the Shrine of
Baha'u'llah in Bahji. The Shrine is considered the Most Holy Spot on earth to
over 6 million Baha'is around the world, so having the opportunity to work there
and prepare plants to beautify it is an unbelievable bounty for me.
April 21 - May 2 is the Festival of Ridvan. Here are some
pictures taken during the First Day of Ridvan Holy Day observance in Bahji
on April 21. Thanks Farid, for the pics! (coming soon)
